History Westwood Hills Christian Church

Westwood Hills Christian Church held its first service on October 5, 1941 in the home of its founding Minister, Dr. Jesse Randolph Kellems. Ten years later the church would complete the construction of its beautiful Gothic-style sanctuary. Modeled after some of the great cathedrals of Europe by the late Nelson Rice, the edifice and its distinctive stained-glass windows, including the notable University Window, point to a God who speaks to us in wisdom and mystery. Following Dr. Kellems’s lengthy ministry, Dr. Myron J. Taylor ministered with the congregation for thirty years before retiring in 1999. He was followed by Dr. David Matson, who served as minister from 1999-2003. Dr. Mark Krause served as Minister for three years to 2010, and is followed by our current minister, Pastor Perry Fuller.
